Pattern recognition is one of those abilities that just reaps rewards the longer you have it, ya know?
Right from the beginning where recognising a caregiverâs face meant being able to tell if you were in for some fun or in massive trouble, right to learning how to count (because itâs always one, then two, then three, then⌠patterns!)
But would you believe that a skill that you learned before you could even talk would ever go on to put money directly into the business youâd have decades later? Sounds extra mystical but I promise thereâs something to be gained here!
There are patterns to be seen in your clientsâ requests, which almost guarantee you Value creation opportunities that you can leverage into revenue.
Let me take you through just 2 examples to show you what I mean!
Using Patterns to Get Proactive
Letâs say youâre a nail and eyelash technician and you notice that every year just as December starts, you always get a massive jump in urgent bookings as your clients rush to get ready for the holiday season. Naturally itâs not only your calendar going insane, itâs the clients who almost go rabid trying to secure their spot.
How can we leverage this Value creation opportunity?
Simple: you create a âDecember Diva Readiness Packageâ (feel free to take liberties with the naming convention!). The package can then include the services that your clients tend to book during the rush.
Next, you reach out to the clients who booked in last yearâs December rush in late October already to book their slot for the package. You can allow them to change their date and time slot up until mid November, whereupon their slot will be permanently set for that yearâs rush.
Why does this work?
Firstly, you create Value for your client by saving them from the stress of navigating that whole rush, helping them make at least one part of their holiday planning smoother.
Secondly, you create Value for yourself by guaranteeing yourself predictable, prepaid income for at least one month in the year, or whichever months you choose to have a package deal like this. You get to move from frantic, emergency-mode work to calm, efficient routines during your busiest times!
The specific Value creation here is that shift out of always being in âreactive modeâ and fixing the same issue over and over again, and into getting ahead of the problem via pattern recognition.
Using Patterns for Efficiency
Letâs look at a second example; this time, you run a social marketing agency.
You notice that most of your new clients ask a variation of the same three questions within the first month:
âHow do I set up my analytics?â âCan you write my social media bios?â âWhat are the best hashtags to use?â
Repetition means Value creation opportunity; now how do we leverage this one?
Instead of answering these questions every time for each client, you create a âNew Client Success Kitâ. The beauty of this is that the kit can be a video tutorial, a PDF guide, or a checklist; basically any format you feel confident that the client will actually engage with.
Then you send to them right after that first onboarding meeting, encouraging them to walk through the content in their own time!
Why does this work?
Easy! The client gets instant and forever access to high-quality answers for their typical first timer questions, creating a better onboarding experience that helps put them at ease.
Consequently you get a smoother client engagement experience and free up hours of work time that would otherwise be trapped in FAQ back and forth, allowing you to serve more clients and not get bogged down!
Thereâs even a bonus: you could even turn this into an mini-offering you could sell! Pack it with Valuable information at a price point that makes sense to get a little extra income in your pocket!
In this case, patterns in requests that you spot across your entire client base reveal Value opportunities that inject efficiency into your operations and help get you started with your scalability.
